There are some inconsistencies in the display of name / username in ILIAS in communication facilities:

Our suggestion for a streamlined name display:

Profile Disabled	Visible for Logged in Users
Username	Clickable full name (link to profile or e-portfolio, resp.)

Remarks:

In Chats, the possibility of pseudonyms has to be considered, i.e., in case a pseudonym has been chosen, the full name of the user is not displayed.
There is a bug affecting this topic (http://ilias.de/mantis/view.php?id=8481)

In 4.3 this has been implemented for the chat and the forum. The mail system did not get the funding.
