Revision of Start Objects in Courses

1 Description

The start object interface in courses should also use the new table class, offer additional information about the type of a start object (not available at the moment) and allow also files and other objects to become a start object. In some scenarios it makes sense to offer a file for download as start object. Clicking on Download would be the trigger to give access to the course content.

• Feature has been implemented in the meantime as part of Revision of Learning Objectives View, see section ‘Implementation’ below.
  
  

3 Discussion

JF 15 Nov 2010: We highly appreciate the idea.

JF 9 May 2011: A part of this will already be implemented (user interface/settings) in 4.2. However the big revision may become part of 4.3 and still needs funding.

4 Implementation

Feature has been implemented as part of the general revision of the course mode "learning objectives view" with 5.0.

• Start page now uses new table class.
• List allows to sort items and presents information about type and description.
• The following object types can become start objects:
  • Exercise
  • Learning module ILIAS
  • Learning module SCORM
  • Test
