1 Summary
The 'View'-subtab in the 'Content'-tab of Weblinks will not offer any editing (or creating) of links anymore. This will only be possible in the 'Manage'-subtab.
2 Problem Statement
The 'View'-subtab in the 'Content'-tab of Weblinks has an 'Edit' action for links, which offers the exact same functionality as the table shown in the 'Manage'-subtab. This redundancy is unnecessary. Further, the 'Manage'-table is full of inputs and other custom HTML, making it impossible to directly replace by a KS data table.
3 Concept
The 'View'-subtab will only present the available links (with title, description, and target), and not offer any actions anymore (except 'Export as HTML File').
The 'Manage'-subtab instead shows a table of the links with all their properties, and offers the actions previously on the 'View'-subtab ('Delete', 'Deactivate', and 'Edit').
The 'Sorting'-subtab will be removed. Instead, if 'Weblink Sorting' is set to 'Sort Manually', the 'Manage'-subtab will allow ordering of links.
4 User Interface Modifications
4.1 List of Affected Views
- Weblink > Content
4.2 User Interface Details
The 'View'-subtab will contain all active links as items in a listing panel. Header is the linked title of the link. Further, the description of the link is shown in the item. The items will have no further actions.
The 'Manage'-subtab will contain either an ordering table if 'Weblink Sorting' is set to 'Sort Manually', else a data table. Columns will be 'Title', 'Description', 'Target' (URL for external links, object type and title for internal links), and a status icon 'Active'.
Depending on the acceptance of Abandon Dynamic Parameters in Weblinks, the table might also come with a 'Parameters' column, containing all dynamic parameters as a listing. The column will not be shown if 'Dynamic Weblink Parameters' are disabled in the Weblink administration.
The table will have 'Edit' as a single action, which will behave like the current 'Edit' action on the 'View'-subtab and lead to an edit form on a separate page. 'Deactivate' and 'Delete' will be standard actions, and will also behave like they do now.
The toolbar buttons will each be exclusive to one of the subtabs: The 'Manage'-subtab will only have 'Add Weblink', and the 'View'-subtab will only have 'Export as HTML File'.
The 'Sorting'-subtab will be removed entirely.
