1 Initial Problem

The button to launch a SCORM learning module has low visibility. It is a secondary button, not placed in the line of reading but in attolbar on top of the page. People overlook the button to start the SCORM Package.

2 Conceptual Summary

  • The Info tab should present a Launcher at the bottom.
  • The Settings tab should no longer offer the toolbar with button to start the learning module

5 Discussion

The rationale behind this feature is not sufficiently clear.

The launch button in the settings is helpful for administrators and testers—i.e., everyone who changes settings and wants to try them out quickly.

However, the launch button in a separate tab seems rather unnecessary, as it adds an extra click for users. The informational text in the tab is neither particularly helpful nor visually appealing.

We understand the general intention of streamlining this across different objects; see Revision of Info Page.

From our perspective, a much better solution would be a Page Editor page (see ILIAS page editor for info page - advanced implementation), with the option to add an additional launcher button where needed. Such a page would offer flexible presentation of both information and visual design, and could also be useful for AI-powered search and deep linking.
