(Project) AccessILIAS: Journey to accessible ILIAS

This is a project page that bundles several feature wiki pages which belong to a larger development activity for the ILIAS component Accessibility.

1 Aim of Project

Implementation of various sub-projects to make ILIAS more accessible. An accessible design of ILIAS strengthens digital inclusion and ensures compliance with legal requirements such as EN 301 549, which is increasingly relevant for both, companies and higher education institutions. Companies benefit from greater reach, as learning content becomes accessible to all employees and customer groups. Accessibility improves user-friendliness and reduces training and support efforts. It also enhances a company’s image as a socially responsible and modern employer. Moreover, it fosters innovation, since accessible design often leads to more efficient and intuitive user interfaces. In addition, accessibility provides material advantages by increasing competitiveness in public procurement processes, ensuring long-term legal compliance, and reducing costs associated with platform maintenance and user support. By meeting accessibility standards, organizations strengthen their market position, expand their user base, and achieve more sustainable economic efficiency.
