3 Discussion
Use the following discussion section to express your objections against this request or your consent to get rid of this feature.
Kunkel, Matthias [mkunkel], 08 APR 2025: Will any content no longer be findable after the advanced search has been abandoned? Provided the Lucene search is activated.
Samoila, Oliver [oliver.samoila], 11 APR 2025:
Hello everyone,
I still don't think I understand sufficiently what would stop working if Advanced Search were to be abandoned. I would be very grateful for any further information.
Based on the same lack of knowledge, I would like to ask whether the whole strategic goals around OER and metadata would not be completely compromised with the discontinuation?
Solzbacher, Bettina [BettinaSolzbacher], 13 APR 2025:
Hi @ all,
maybe the advanced search shouldn't be removed but rather redesigned.
- Enter data via the general search bar
- Refine the search results with filters (e.g., course, group, category, etc., or license type, etc.)
It is important that the advanced search includes options that the system provides natively and that are of interest to the user. Searching by operating system is perhaps somewhat questionable in this context, since content should typically function independently.
JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], 14 APR 2025: We accept this suggestion and abandon the Advanced Search in trunk. Some LOM and custom metadata will no longer be searchable due to this decision. But there is a plan to extend the normal search by additional search criteria, e.g. copyright. From the technical point of view abandonning the Advanved Search will give new oportunities to improve the support of LOM in ILIAS as we get rid of old legacy classes.
4 Implementation
Implemented as described above.
Removed Testcases
The testcases will be taken care of when testrail is available for ILIAS 11.
The following testcases have been removed from Testrail or modified because the feature is no longer part of the ILIAS core.
- {Test case number linked to Testrail} : {test case title}
