Indexability of Object Types
Page Overview
[Hide]1 Initial Problem
Currently some object types or subitems are never indexed i.e. testquestions. The rational was for test questions not to be found by the search. This assumption is to be revisited.
For all object types and their subitems it should be dicussed and decided whether or not they are to be index and if so which parts of them .
What is the division of labor between the object specific search (wiki, forum) and the global search?

9 Discussion
Kunkel, Matthias [mkunkel], 03 AUG 2023 : Does it make sense to search for link objects (category link, course link, group link) and present them as search results? Or should the linked object be presented instead? IMHO, the link object is just a 'hint' in a certain root node to show a quick way to the real course, group or category. The linked object is hopefully presented as search result, too. So why also presenting the links to it?
And with ILIAS 8 the forum could also provide page content, see Using ILIAS Page Editor to provide general information of Forum. This page content should be indexed and searchable, too.
