Editable page area for competence profiles

1 Initial Problem

1. If you work with competence profiles, you cannot see in the administration what the profile looks like for the user.

2. Working with competence profiles is very text intensive for users. Currently there is no possibility to support the representation of competences, to layout or to supplement additional information (e.g. the persona on which the profile is based, an instruction manual "Working with competences" or a short introduction).

2 Conceptual Summary

1. To be able to estimate how competence profiles are displayed to users, a content tab should be introduced in the administration, which displays the view for users. This tab allows administrators to better estimate...

  • How many competences a profile should contain?
  • How much space the descriptions of the levels take up?
  • How long the list of learning materials is?
2. Via the sub-tab "Edit page" in the content tab, users can edit the entry area of competence profiles. As in ILIAS container objects, users are able to enhance their profile with graphics or notes.

8 Discussion

Kunkel, Matthias [mkunkel], 31 JAN 2020: I suggest to label the new tab in Administration as "Preview" and not as "Content" ("Inhalt") because that's what you see there.

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], 03 FEB 2020 : We highly appreciate this suggestion and accept the feature request for 7. Please use the label "Preview" instead of "Content" in the administration view. Support of different content styles is very good to distinguish these pages from those in other parts of ILIAS.

9 Implementation

{The maintainer has to give a description of the final implementation and add screenshots if possible.}
