Study Programme: Multilingualism

1 Initial Problem

By now (v5.3), multilingualism is only supported by the container object type "category" and the object type "ILIAS learning module". To extend this feature across all ILIAS objects and to ensure consistency within ILIAS, multilingualism should also be implemented for the ILIAS study programme.

2 Conceptual Summary

To realize multilingualism for study programmes the tab "Settings" should be completed by a new, additional sub-tab called "Multilingualism".

As it is already possible for categories and ILIAS learning modules, this sub-tab should allow the display of title and description in in other languages.


If available, title and description should be displayed in the selected language of the current user. Otherwise the default values should be presented.
