News Timeline: Images / Media Files in Posts

1 Initial Problem

It is not possible to add an image / media file to a timeline post (news entry)

2 Conceptual Summary

It should be possible to add images (and other media objects like videos) files to a timeline entry.

The image / media object should be added to a news entry not within the news entry's text, but through a separate file upload selector.

The image / media should be shown as a "bigger" thumbnail in the timeline.

On click, a modal should be shown and

• the image shold be displayed in full size or accorsing to the max. modal width)
• the ILIAS media player should be shown and the media file should be played back (not automatically)

Amstutz, Timon [amstutz] 21.9.2017: Two comments:

• Please use the Standard File Dropzone inside a form (Example 5, "with use in legacy form"). You might think about allowing multiple files, which imho would be a great addition, see next comment.
• Please use the Lightbox Modal to display the media as model. If multiple images have been uploaded, note that they can be swapped through inside this modal in a carousel like mode (see example 2, "Show mulitple images").

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], September 25, 2017: We highly appreciate this suggestion and schedule it for 5.4. We will only support the upload of one media object per news entry. Lightbox modal and standard file dropzone shall be used - as suggested by Timon Amstutz. The existing lightbox modal shall be extended by a 'Lightbox Video Page' (needs KS discussion and PR).

Killing, Alexander [alex], 26 Apr 2018: I currently cannot use ilFileStandardDropzoneInputGUI, since it relies on the form being submitted and not being sent via ajax.

Killing, Alexander [alex], 22 Oct 2018: There is no Lightbox Video Page needed for this feature. The video is been showed embedded which offers the standard media player full view. We would have three stages otherwise (embedded, lighbox, full view), which would not make much sense.
