New Permission: Amend Finalized Records

1 Initial Problem

If a examiner entered the wrong notes or grading and finalize the IA, it is not possible to change this. E.g. there are two participants with the same lastname and the examinier does not look on the firstname. Now he transpose both and the data are wrong.

The initial decision to not allow changes in the participants record by ordinary users is not invalidated by this feature request. It should be possible to disallow changes to the participant records by ordinary examiners, while reintroducing the possibilities for (super-) admins to e.g. correct spelling mistakes or even the grading. In this way, the paper trail for an examinee is mostly reliable (up to actions of admins) while human errors can be corrected in the GUI.

2 Conceptual Summary

A new permission amend finalized records is introduced. Users with this permission can edit all participants records even if they are finalized.

3 User Interface Modifications

3.1 List of Affected Views

Adding a new permission will automaticly change the permission screen in the standard way. Additionally, the view on the participants table is changed.

3.2 User Interface Details

The action menu for each finalized record will be extended by the option Amend Record (this was "Readjust" in a previous draft, thus the text in the mock up).

7 Discussion

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], JAN 30, 2017: We appreciate this feature request and schedule it for 5.3. We would like to call this permission "Amend grading". It should not be given to owner of the object. An additional column in 'Participants' screen should offer name and date in case a record has been changed after finalisation.
