Notification on New Assignment

1 Requirements

Right now, the students are not notified when an assignment is added to an exercise. So often they just don't realise that there's a new assignment for them. What I suggest is:
1: A checkbox: "Inform participants of new assigment" - If checked every participant gets an email informing him about the new assignment. This should also work if the deadline of an assignment is changed.
2: Every new assignment should generate an entry in the course caldendar (if the calendar feature is activated).
 
This would help students to stay up-do-date on their assignments

4 Discussion

Kunkel, Matthias [mkunkel], June 09, 2015: This request sounds similar to Informing Students when a new assignment is added to an exercise via news-block and email optionally. I guess we can close one of them. I prefer to keep this one - and I would like to remove "E-Mail" from the title as other channels for notification should or could be supported, too.

Seiler, Yvonne [yvseiler], October 22, 2015: I would prefere to merge this too feature requests. The E-Mail notifications would be nice for new assigments, but also a news-item in the news-block should be part of this feature. So students can subscribe to the news of the course and gets information about new exercises and new assignments in exercises.

Glaubitz, Marko [mglaubitz], March 31st 2016: I would love to see this feature coming. Is there any news on possible funders?
In addition I suggest, having a look at when and which notifcations are triggered by the execise at all. There are some very similar functions that behave quite differently in this repsect, for example:

• grading and comments for the learner trigger a notification if posted for a single assignment. If a course admin / tutor posts this info on the screen "Grades View" notgin happens and the inforamtion of put on the "Info"-Tab (!)
• users should also get a notification when a peer feedback phase has started, i.e. after the original hand-in deadline is passed. it is so easy to miss out on this
