Enhanced Permission Handling For DC Contributors

1 Description

The great data collection tool should get two more possibilities to set permissions:

  1. It should be possible to allow a role to edit, add and delete via the action-button. But the role must not have access to the tabs "Settings" and "Fields".
  2. The possibility that a member sees only data that has been added by himself. So a teacher/tutor/admin who sees of course all data could ask the members to add their names to the tool so that the teacher/admin/tutor can add discrete grades and other data.

This is possible.
1. Set the permission "Add/Edit entry" for the role
2. Set the settings "User can add entries", "User can edit entries", "User can delete entries" via the table settings

I suggest to introduce a new table setting: "View only own entries"

JF 15 Apr 2013: We appreciate the "View only own entries" setting and schedule it for 4.4.

Matthias Kunkel, 25 Oct 2013: Feature postponed and unscheduled due to missing funding.

HL, 24.3.2014: Need more information about the crowdfunding initiative?

If you want to contribute to this crowdfunding initiative by financing one or more of the listed features, please contact Hansjörg Lauener or Matthias Kunkel for further details.

MST, 14 Apr 2014: I still support this request.

JF 12 May 2014: We still appreciate the "View only own entries" setting and schedule it for 4.5.

4 Implementation

This feature is now available in the trunk. There exist a new table setting "View only own entries":

New setting can be activated in the permission settings of a DC-table. If activated, users are only able to see their own records in the table and also the detail view.
