Notes and annotations on test question page
Page Overview
[Hide]1 Initial Problem
Students can’t add notes or annotations during a test. There is also a need for highlighting the most important content and to make them eye-catching. Added notes and highlighted text will help students organize the work on the test. By saving annotations and highlighted text, examiners can reproduce student’s thoughts and can read student’s comments.
2 Conceptual Summary
Students want to add virtual notes or annotations during a test. Typing their thoughts and comments right into the test page they can store ideas and concepts before completing the question. This will help them organize their ideas by adding small notes to every question during switching over every test page.
From the notes tool-kit a new annotation can be created and placed anywhere on the test page. Accordingly text can be highlighted (e.g. in yellow) with the highlighting tool.
The user can delete an existing note or a text-highlighting.
The course administrator/tutor can decide whether the notes tool-kit is switched on or off.
Optionally all notes, annotations and highlighted contents will be stored with all test data. Thus it is possible for the student to give feedback or to explain the response.
3 User Interface Modifications
3.1 List of Affected Views
Every question page (If activated by the examiner the notes and highlighting tool is available on every question. In this case all questions will be saved with all added notes and highlighted text. All notes and highlighted items will also be stored in the export file and should be available after importing.)
Settings: Administering the Test: Functionality Available to Participants

7 Discussion
Kunkel, Matthias [mkunkel], April 26, 2017: I changed the page's title from 'notes and annotations' to 'Notes and annotations through tester on test question page' to clarify the request.
AT 2017-01-04: I think this will be quite an effort to implement this for all questions types: If I can annotate part of the question then I can annotate parts of the answer options. They are different for every question type. Please do reconsider: If participants would annotate the questions as a whole, without getting down to specific parts, then only one implementation would be needed.
8 Implementation
{The maintainer has to give a description of the final implementation and add screenshots if possible.}
