Feature: Unify Grading and Learning Progress

If you need any help in filling out this wiki page, please visit our ILIAS Community FAQ. And please complete the metadata information in the right column after having created the page.

1 Initial Problem

Currently, records of assessments include a field titled "Grading", which can have three possible
statuses: "Status pending", "Completed" and "Failed". If the Learning Progress Settings are set
to "Graded manually by tutor or trainer", that status is mapped to an appropriate learning
progress status. This duplication of functionality may seem superfluous in retrospect, as many
users will indeed be accustomed to the learning progress status. Conversely, without Learning
Progress, the Grading has limited impact.

2 Conceptual Summary

It is therefore proposed that the field "Grading" in the records of the Individual Assessment be
renamed to "Learning Progress". All available learning progress statuses shall be available for
selection, with the default setting being "Not Attempted". Furthermore, the field shall only be
available when the corresponding option "Graded manually by tutor or trainer" is selected in
the Learning Progress Settings.
