Improvements of Competence Management for ILIAS 7

This is a project page that bundles several feature wiki pages which belong to a larger development activity for the ILIAS component Competence Management.

1 Aim of Project

With the project "Improvement of Competence Management for ILIAS 7" we want to expand competence management and enable course administrators to manage competences locally. In addition to the functional enhancements, the UI of the competencies will be revised and thus usability will be increased.


Short Conceptual Summary

The project addresses the following extensions:

• Deleting competence is really hard, you cannot delete them unless you deleted all usage by objects and users, finding those usages is not helped at all. It should be easier to delete single competences.
• Course and Group adiministrators cannot prepare or assign profiles. We want to expand the possibilities of local competence management and introduce local competence profiles. Existing profiles should be assignable to members by course/group administrators. Course/group administrators should be able to create new profiles using existing skills.
• Sorting of competences is not didactical. Competencies are to be sorted manually in the administration to ensure a meaningful order of presentation.
• The overview of the learning materials assigned to competencies should be improved. Global administrators get a list of objects that competences or profiles are assigned to.
• Spider-Webs are a difficult to read. As a first step a KS-Element for bar chart is prepared to replace spider-webs.
