Add function new wiki page
1 Description
Implementation of a function "Generate new wiki page" to generate a wiki page directly. The best place for an implemenation must still be discussed.
Justification: A new wiki page can only be generated by creating a new link in an existing page. This can be very confusing for wiki beginners, who look for something like "create new wiki page".

Andreas R. (NET ETH Zürich): Suggestion: Implementation in "all pages" (quick navigation). That's he place, where all pages can be seen at once.
JF 16 Nov 2009: We like the feature, but we are unsure how a good workflow could be implemented. A major problem is, that this feature would create "orphaned pages". The add workflow should make it easy to link the page from another page.
The other issue is the location of the initial link/button. To place it under "All Pages" or any other "sub-page" would hide it too much. We think it should somehow appear on every page. Alternatives are:
- As "Button" on top of the page.
- In quick navigation block as "Add New Page".
If anybody knows a wiki that implements this feature, we would like to have a look at it. If we do not find any other wiki that does it, a reason may be, that a good workflow that prevents orphaned pages does not exist.
Andreas R. 26 Feb 2010: Telepark-wiki (http://www.telepark.com/Products/telepark-wiki/) for example has an ‚add’ function for wiki pages and other resources. If someone adds a wiki page, it will be added to the index on the left side. In ILIAS, the new wiki page could be placed to the Side Bar per default to avoid an orphaned page. A function ‘new page’ would be available in the side bar (see mockup) and in the page editor's drop down list.
Elba Meeting, 10 Mar 2010: Putting "New Page" into the side bar may lead to unwanted behaviour: Users add new pages to the side bar, just because this is the button they see first.
Zenzen, Enrico [ezenzen], 12 SEP 2022: This request no longer fulfills the requirements of the Feature Wiki. In consultation with the maintainer I change the status of the feature request to "Redundant / outdated". If the request is still relevant, please update template and mockups.
