Using ILIAS Editor for Questions

1 Requirements

At the time being, test questions are using both ILIAS page editor and TinyMCE rich-text editor.
  • Content before and after the question block are using the ILIAS page editor.
  • Questions, answers and feedback are using TinyMCE.
We would highly appreciate to unify the editor use and to offer questions where only the ILIAS page editor is used. One solution could be to offer an editor choice when creating a new question. Migrating existing questions would be an additional request.
  • Offering a setting in editor administration > ILIAS page editor > test and assessment to enable the use of ILIAS page editor in test questions.
  • If Tiny and ILIAS page editor are enabled, test authors get the offer to select the editor when creating a new question. It is not possible to undo this choice (until a migration service is offered for test questions).
  • If "ILIAS page editor" is selected the TinyMCE does not appear in the editing process of the question but:
    • Question text and answer texts are offered as simple text (no formatting). The presentation is the same as if TinyMCE has been disabled for T&A.
    • Feedback and hints are using ILIAS page editor.

AK, MK, 17 Jan 2012: We appreciate the idea and schedule it for 4.3.

Matthias Kunkel, 03 SEP 2012: Feature is postponed to 4.4 because it cannot be finished untli deadline for 4.3.0_beta at September 04.

Eigentlich geht es hier um die Wahl für die Frageersteller, ob ihnen, sofern sie Feedback und Hinweise verwenden wollen, der Standard-Tiny "genügt", oder ob sie den ILIAS Seiten Editor nutzen wollen. Eine solche Entscheidung ist für einen geübten Dozierenden, der sich intensiv mit Tests beschäftigt, sicher hilfreich. Aber für die meisten Anwender besteht da das Problem, dass man vor eine Entscheidung gestellt wird und man nicht genau weiss, welche Auswirkung diese Entscheidung hat, bzw. was dies bewirkt.
 
Im Zweifelsfall ändert man da nichts, man nimmt die "Standard-Option".
 
Bitte an den Jour-Fixe, folgende Fragen zu klären:
 
a) Ist es sinnvoll/erwünscht, den Tiny als "Standard-Option" an erster Stelle zu definieren? Oder wäre es sinnvoll, den ILIAS Seiten Editor den Nutzern zu empfehlen, der auch wirklich mehr kann? Dann müsste die Reihenfolge und das Wording überdacht werden.
 
Und
b) Usabilityproblem allgemein:
Ein "Beginner" versteht nicht, wieso er hier eine Einscheidung treffen muss, aber auch nicht, was mit "... zusätzlicher Frageninhalte..." gemeint ist.

Solange dieses Feature nur Feedback und Hints damit gemeint sind, könnte man ev. den Text vereinfachen. Bsp.

Ein kleines Problem bleibt, dass für den Beginner auch dies nicht ohne weiteres verständlich ist.

JF 11.11.2013: We would like to rename the options, too:
  • Editor for Feedback and Hints / Editor für Feedback und Hinweise
  • Simple Editor / Texteditor (which technically is a textarea or a tiny, depending on settings)
  • ILIAS Page Editor / ILIAS-Seiteneditor
