Abandon Description, Position, Bold and New Line From Display Options
Page Overview
[Hide]1 Reasons to Abandon Feature
The different settings available when configuring the display options for Custom Metadata fields in the repository allow for much more control than needed. This makes maintaining and testing this feature unnecessarily complicated, and it hinders (re-)introduction of display options into the dashboard and search results (see 37245). Further, dropping some of the settings would ease the transition to KS elements in repository object lists.
The following settings should be abandoned:
- Description: Controls whether the description of an object is shown in object lists. This does not belong in the Custom Metadata Settings.
- Position: The relative position of Custom Metadata fields in general can already be customized elsewhere, there is no need for an additional bespoke ordering in the display options.
- Bold: Not necessary as an option, unlikely to survive the transition to KS anyways.
- New Line: See Bold, all every field should be displayed as a separate property.
