Customize Logout Screen

1 Initial Problem

The LogOut screen provides more questions than answers.
Seriously said: It is often reported that users are quite 'lost' on this screen. Only one piece of information is shown and two options for action are offered - and these are really unimpressive. The page often leaves users with very little orientation and is very rarely styled via skin.

2 Conceptual Summary

Operators who prefer an explicit LogOut screen should be given the opportunity to design it.

  • A new sub-tab "Logutscreen Editor" is introduced below the "Authentication" tab.
  • The LogIn screen solution is adapted for this purpose. Instead of using a rich text editor, the target state from the Abandon Rich Text Editor for Login Page request is adapted.
  • To ensure sufficient flexibility, COPage elements for Links to [Login to ILIAS ] and [Public Area] are needed.
  • The default content style of the installation is always used as the content style.
  • WAC-Handling of Content is adapted from Login Screen.

9 Discussion

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], 15 APR 2024: We highly appreciate this suggestion and schedule the feature for ILIAS 10. We prefer to support custom content styles on logout (and login) pages as well as this gives us more options for styling the screen without blowing-up the content style with login-/logout-specific style classes.

10 Implementation

  • A new subtab to customize the logout page has been created.
  • Possibility to define a content style for the Authentication node has been introduced. This concerns the login page and in future also the customisable logout page.
