Abandon Mail Preview «Message» on Dashboard

1 Reasons to Abandon Feature

"Mail" block in the side column:

• The dashboard can display a "Mail" block .
• This contains the number of unread mails in a number of 5 per page.

"Message" block in main column:

• When you click on the subject of a message in "Mail" block, the entire content of the main column on the dashboard is replaced by a "Message" block.
• This block contains exactly this one message. There is no navigation to other messages.
• There is also an action menu with the actions "Reply", "Inbox" and "Delete".
• The mail is then read and disappears directly from the "Mail" block. This status can not be changed from this position.
• The original contents of the dashboard can only be accessed by calling up the main menu entry again. The contents of the side column, on the other hand, have nothing to do with the „Messages".

This "Message" block in main column on the dashboard should be completely removed.
Clicking on the subject of a message in "Mail" block takes you directly to this mail in the mail system, i.e. to the mail within the inbox. All necessary interactions can be done from here.

It is proposed to convert the simple display of the date into a key-value pair and to add the sender. This should create added value in terms of information:

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], 18 MAR 2024: We highly appreciate this suggestion and abandon the feature with ILIAS 10. Please also add a short notice to Changed Behaviour section of the ILIAS 10 release page. And we recommend to change the behaviour of news in the same way and to streamline the behaviour with Tasks and Mail (requires a distinct feature request).
