Abandon Hits/Page as a User Setting

1 Reasons to Abandon Feature

The Setting Hits/Page is a little out of time and regularly leads to questions.

Above all, the new data table does not take this setting into account at all. In consultation with UI coordinators and UI/UX experts, we realised that the new data table does not need this either.
The default value for rows in a UI data table sholud become 25.
(If data about selected rows, the sorting or even the pagination is saved in the session or across sessions in the future, then the saved value would be used when the page is called up.)

The setting is omitted in the User Settings and as the default value and setting in the Standard Fields (User Management " Setting " Standard Fields).

Killing, Alexander [alex], 19 Feb 2024: Not sure if I understand this correctly. Users will not be able to select the number of rows at all? I still remember when this has been requested long time ago. There is definitely a type of user who loves to set this to high values and to use browser "on page" search to quickly find entries. Especially if corresponding filters are missing.

Samoila, Oliver [oliver.samoila], 19 Feb 2024:  The known settings "Hits/Page" only affect legacy tables. The setting for the user and the default setting for the user should be removed. The option to customise the the number of rows to be displayed in the table context remains for both the old table implementation and the new UI DataTable.

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], 04 MAR 2024: We highly appreciate this suggestion and abandon the personal and general setting for the number of hits per page with ILIAS 10.

6 Implementation

The two screens or parts of them shown in section 'Reasons to Abandon Feature' have been removed.
