Abandon Emoticons in Repository Chat and OnScreen-Chat
Page Overview
[Hide]1 Reasons to Abandon Feature
The emoticons are out of time.
The current implementation uses images that either have to be selected from a special overlay menu or are used via text replacement.
Managing or using your own emoticons is time-consuming.
At the same time, the appearance is not at all comparable to that of emojis.
(Emojis are not yet fully usable because this is related to processing and storage in the database. This abandon request does not introduce the emojis that are known across OS or guarantee support of this in ILIAS)
2 Technical Information
We could remove a lot of PHP chat specific PHP and JS code as well as the icon files.

Accordingly, they are no longer available in Repository Chat and OnScreen-Chat.
There is a corresponding update step in which the images for the emoticons and the language variables are also removed.
