Improve Search Slate in Metabar

1 Initial Problem

The presentation of search results is outdated. The clarity of the search results suffers from this. In order to improve the usability, the existing elements are to be transferred to KS components. In addition, the displayed information will be discussed so that search results are more clearly structured and understandable.

 Search Slate Form in Metabar

  • Link "Last Search Result" is odd for a form. If it was abandonned this slate would look more like the form it is.
  • Label "At current position" is not well understood by users

2 Conceptual Summary

The form will be moved to KS form. The Last Search Results may be appended to the form as a link.

9 Discussion

Bettina hätte das Slate gerne als Modal.

Fabian Kruse, 29-09-2025: Is there any way to KS-"legally" get rid of the top "Search" button? I would argue that we do not need it there.

EDIT: It’s not even a "Search" button right now, but a "Send" button. So question no. 2: Shouldn’t it say "Search"?!

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], 29 SEP 2025: We highly appreciate this suggestion and accept the feature for trunk. We prefer the second solution that offers a link to the last results.

Remark: it would be great if we would have an option in the future that allows to show only one submit/save button below the form also for accessibility reasons, incl. the option to label it. But this would require changes in the KS.

10 Implementation

{ The maintainer has to give a description of the final implementation and add screenshots if possible. }
