Move User Search Results to KS

1 Initial Problem

The presentation of search results is outdated. The clarity of the search results suffers from this. In order to improve the usability, the existing elements are to be transferred to KS components. In addition, the displayed information will be discussed so that search results are more clearly structured and understandable.

2 Conceptual Summary

The User Search Results comprise of

  • the non-KS Search input field
  • a Panel
  • a sortation control and pagination
  • an item with lead avatar per user 
    • properties are displayed according to personal settings

9 Discussion

Kunkel, Matthias [mkunkel], 19 AUG 2024: The suggestion screen looks much nicer than the table before. Unfortunately, some information is missing in the description and the mockups. Therefore a few questions:

  1. In the current implementation I have to click on the picture to get to the Personal Profile of this person. Does the lead avatar in your suggestion overtake this behaviour? Or/and is the user name linked? The mockup doesn't make it clear if the user name is a link or not.
  2. Where does the button appear to request contact? And the one to unlink?
  3. Will the information of being linked with a user be displayed again on the button (like now)? Or is it an additional property of the panel?
  4. In the current implementation it is possible to configure the columns of the search result and to display all kind of user properties. Will this configuration still be possible (and how?) – or will it be abandoned with this FR? And in case it vanishs, which user properties will be displayed in the future?
  5. The new mockup shows a sortation control for 'Relevance' but no information for relevance for the single results. Intention or oversight? And is 'Relevance' the only sorting criteria?

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], 19 AUG 2024 : We highly appreciate this suggestion and accept the transfer of the the user search to KS items. We would like to keep the link to the Personal Profile. The action dropdown to request or cancel contact shall be presented as well. The information of being linked becomes a property, same as relevance. As the presentation takes no longer place in a table, sorting is not supported anymore.
