Improved Creative Commons Support : add CC0-licence

1 Initial Problem

If creative commons selection is enabled, CC-licence-graphics are displayed in the info page of objects. By now you cannot add a CC0-licence. Furthermore the 'all rights reserved'-licence is only presented textual.

2 Conceptual Summary

  1. The CC0-licence should be added and use the official icon from creativecommons.org (https://creativecommons.org/about/downloads/). Position in list of supported CC licences is last of the CC licences (like known from CC page).
  2. For the licence 'all rights reserved' the typical © should be displayed. Related icon will be provided by our icon designer.

3 User Interface Modifications

3.1 List of Affected Views

  • Administration » Metadata » Copyright
  • Metadata tab of all objects that support Metadata (only if CC selection is enabled)
  • Info page of all objects that support Metadata

3.2 User Interface Details

new added / improved CC licences:

  • This work is free of known copyright restrictions.

  • This work has all rights reserved by the owner.

    (or textual: ©)

info page of objects should display ALL licences by using a separate image (including CC0 and all rights reserved)
add images AND CC0 licence in administration - metadata - copyright
add new radio button for CC0 in tab metadata of any object

3.3 New User Interface Concepts

none

3.4 Accessibility Implications

4 Technical Information

The CC 0 licence will be added as a new licence to the set of licences provided from the ILIAS DB. The new image of "All rights reserved" will be added to the already existing licence. No new licence for "All rights reserved".

5 Privacy

No privacy issues.

6 Security

No foreseeable security implications.

9 Discussion

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], 19 DEC 2022: We highly appreciate this suggestion and schedule the feature for ILIAS 9.

10 Implementation

Implemented as described above. CC0 is labeled 'Public Domain'. Currently, a placeholder for the new 'All rights reserved' icon is used, which will be replaced as soon as the correct icon is available.

New icon for 'All rights reserved', new CC0 copyright entry
