Administration Overview

1 Initial Problem

With ILIAS 6 and following, the complete administration call and all nodes are located in the slate.

For new users, this is one surprise package after the next. It takes a long time for "new administrators" to find their way around and not keep taking wrong turns.
Those who are still used to 5.4 report again and again that they would like to have the overall overview back.
See screenshot.

2 Conceptual Summary

There should be a general overview that can be called up again.
See MockUp.
This Request is not about new functions, but about a different representation.

To discuss: Should admins 1) be able to switch between the display in the slate and a central page or should 2) both co-exist?

  • Version 1: Choose Representation in General Settings via Radio-Group.
    • a) Mainbar-Entry open Slates with nodes and sub-nodes
    • b) Mainbar-Entry opens Overview Page
  • Version 2: Both representations co-exist
    • A new top-level administration node called "Administration Ovwerview".
