Multilingual Title for Item Groups

1 Initial Problem

It is currently not possible to display the title of an object block in the user's language.
Even if multilingual objects like ILIAS learning modules are available in the category, they can only be grouped in object blocks that can only be described in one language.

2 Conceptual Summary

An additional tab "Multilingualism" is added to the object block in order to define the language of the title and description for several languages. The operation is the same as in the ILIAS learning modules.

• new tab: multilingualism - click opens a the multilingualism tab

9 Discussion

Kunkel, Matthias [mkunkel], 18 AUG 2021: The screen for managing "Multilingualism" in other object types is not a proper tab but a subtab of "Settings", see the above mentioned ILIAS LM or the Category component. Even if there is a lot of space in the item object for additional (main)tabs, I recommend to move the screen into a subtab of the item object's settings.

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], 23 AUG 2021: We highly appreciate this suggestion and schedule the feature for ILIAS 8. Please make the tab "Multilingualism" a sub-tab of "Settings" as known from other components.

Kunkel, Matthias [mkunkel], 24 MAY 2022 : I have modified the title of the request from "multilingualism for item groups" to "Multilingual Title for Item Groups" to avoid false expectations as the multilingual display of the item group's content is not yet realised (see FR Language-sensitive Item Group )
