Default Configuration of Member Gallery in Groups

1 Initial Problem

Used case:
A new group is added to the repository. After saving, the member gallery is initially activated. But very often administrators are not aware of the fact that this setting leads to a mutal visbility of group members and they forget to deactivate the setting. Especially when a group deals with data protection-related issues this becomes a problem.
Example: registration for corporate health care.

Please see related bugreport: https://mantis.ilias.de/view.php?id=28345

2 Conceptual Summary

It should be possible to configure the default of the member gallery globally: Administration >> Repository and Objects >> Group.

There should be an additional checkbox beneath "Memberships". By selecting the checkbox the default of member gallery in groups will be set to "active".

9 Discussion

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], 06 JUL 2020: We highly appreciate this suggestion and schedule the feature for ILIAS 7. We would like to mention the member gallery setting also in Administration » Privacy and Security (listing setting and offer "Edit Settings" link to group administration). And sessions within groups should inherit the setting of the parent group. When membership gallery is deactivated by default for groups, the same setting should be given for sessions - and vice versa.

10 Implementation

{The maintainer has to give a description of the final implementation and add screenshots if possible.}
