Registration Procedure: No Registration Possible

1 Initial Problem

Currently, there is no way for an administrator to make selected users "session participants" without also allowing others to attend.

Another problem is that the role "session participant" only comes into effect if someone is attended in to a session. So the permission of this role are only applicable if the column "Attend" appears in the participant administration (this in turn is only given if "Declare Participation" or "Apply for Participation" is selected as the registration procedure).

2 Conceptual Summary

In the session settings, in the "Registration Settings" area, an additional option is to be introduced for "Registration Procedure".

This additional setting "No Registration possible" allows

  • (a) only administrators can register and unregister selected participants for the session.
  • (b) automatic enrolment into a session can be made via interfaces.
Selecting this option has the following effect on the session:
  • Tab "Participants" > Edit Participants: Administrators (of surrounding courses or groups) have the possibility to register participants in the displayed column "Registered".
  • Tab "Info": No buttons will be displayed (as with setting "No Registration Necessary")
  • Action menu: No action for "Attend" session available.
  • The role "session participant" is applied to the registered users (as before)

9 Discussion

Meyer, Stefan [smeyer], 31. Aug 2020: I support this request but suggest to rename the old option "No Registration necessary" to "Registration Disabled" and to switch both options in the session settings.

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], 28 SEP 2020 : We highly appreciate this suggestion and schedule the feature for ILIAS 7. We prefer to rename the existing option "No registration possible" to "Without registration" and put it an the end of the list of options.
