Show Session Date in Role Assignment

1 Initial Problem

The user assignment is a helpful tool for administrators to quickly switch to the correct object of the user for support requests.

It becomes more problematic with sessions. Since these do not necessarily require a title, and sometimes the same titles are used for different sessions, it is hardly possible to determine the correct session in the list. Each session must be tried out individually.

Which "Einführung" Session is the right one?

2 Conceptual Summary

Sessions are displayed not only with the title, but also with the corresponding session date.

3 User Interface Modifications

3.1 List of Affected Views

  • Administration > Users and Roles > User Management > User > Role Assignment

3.2 User Interface Details

3.3 New User Interface Concepts

No new UI elements.

4 Technical Information

To avoid session specific code in the AccessControl-Service, the table presentation could use the title presentation of ilObjectListGUI. Thus titles of sessions would be presented as "{TITLE} (DATE_OF_ SESSION)"

9 Discussion

Meyer, Stefan [smeyer], 12 Oct 20: I support this request. Additionally the (shortedned) path of the location could be presented in the column "Context"

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], 12 OCT 2020 : We highly appreciate this suggestion and schedule the feature for ILIAS 7. The title of the session will be build according to Stefan's notice in Technical Information. And additionally we als add a new column "Context" where the path of the session is presented.

10 Implementation

Adminsitration -> User Managment -> User XY -> Role Assignment
