Mediacast of Type Podcast

1 Initial Problem

Currently it is not possible to create descriptions for media objects in mediacasts and the download link is hardly readable. In the tile view there is no way to provide important information like description. 
The different media types are to be separated: Introduction of a Video Podcast-, Image Gallery- and Audio Podcast-type for mediacasts

2 Conceptual Summary

A description for the media objects can also be created in the type "Podcast". The type uses the KS Element Standard Listing Panel. The podcasts are not displayed using an image. Playback elements are added to the panel.

9 Discussion

Kunkel, Matthias [mkunkel], 29 JUL 2020 : Im very happy with the improvements of the mediacast. But compared to the current tile view as shown in chap. 1, the "Play" button in the new look is quite inconspicuous. Can we save a bit from the tile view and build a lead image out of a 'play' tile and the playback element? The 'play button' is by far the most important UI element on this screen.

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], 03 AUG 2020 : We highly appreciate this suggestion and schedule the feature for ILIAS 7. We prefer option 2 'Standard List Panel with lead audio' to display the mediacasts. Final discussion about the new KS element '... with lead audio' will be made in the related PR. Alexander will check if a cover picture is a MUST for podcast. If so, we have to extend the request accordingly. 

Killing, Alexander [alex], 14 Feb 2022: The PRs will be ready for the next Jour Fixe. I have both options in separate branches, but personally have a strong preference for the option "with Audio" instead of "with Lead Audio" (see screenshots in 2.1 above).

• The natural reading flow will first read title and description and present the audio element afterwards. So a screenreader user knows what to expect.
• The leading images usually are more of a decorative nature., e.g. in user lists or if course images are presented. It sounds feasible to allow the combination of both, e.g. here in the podcast.

Seiler, Yvonne [yvseiler] & Auerswald, Kristina [kauerswald], 01. MAR 2022: Feedback from A11y/UI/UX experts:

• For a sensible reading order, we recommend, as described by Alex Killing in the last post, to display the title and description first, before the audio file is displayed (or read aloud by screen readers). We recommend therefore the option "with Audio", which could exist as a variant with lead image (e.g. for podcasts) and as a variant without lead image.
• Additionally, it would be useful to make the (optional) download link (see screenshot at Initial Problem) more recognizable. In the Tile View, this download link is very difficult to recognize in the upper right corner of the image. Here we recommend to check if the UI component Cards could help to display such a Tile View with a download option as a button (reading order for screen readers would have to be checked).
