Improve Statistics

1 Initial Problem

Administrators monitor the Usage Intensity of certain Object Types in the Administration. There are the following issues:

  • Unusual figures warrant the closer inspection of the object. There is no way to quickly access the object from the Usage Intensity table: The Object-ID is not helpful, there is not Ref-ID, there is not path, Object-Titles are not linked. One actually has to search for the Object and then retrieve the object from the search results - one by one.
  • Reporting figures for a specific faculty is impossible: There is no way of limiting the figures to a specific category.

2 Conceptual Summary

  • The Usage Intensity table should get a new columnPath, very much the same as in the tab Learning Progress: ...» encompassing container » linked title.
    • Other than a mere linked object Title, an additional column Path allows for listing pathes to all linked instances of an object.
    • Because there can be several paths in case of multiple linked instances, the column Path is not sortable.
    • It should be possible to hide the column Path via Columns. The path should be hidden per default in order to keep the table as uncluttered as possible.
    • Aditionally the column Object-ID should be possible to hide via Columns.
  • The Usage Intensity table should get a new filter Area to allow for narrowing down the statistics to i.e. the category "MatNat". Thus will make life easier for those who report key figures.

9 Discussion

Kunkel, Matthias [mkunkel], 19 MAY 2020 : When ILIAS should already show the path of each reference, why not also presenting the RefID - which is really hard to find out for a non-techie?

Samoila, Oliver [oliver.samoila], 19 MAY 2020: For which use case would you pick them up there?
We had also discussed removing the object ID in the table, but didn't know for whom it was relevant. Therefore, we suggested that we could show and hide the column.
But we can also include the Ref-ID as a column that can be hidden or shown.

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], 08 JUN 2020 : We highly appreciate this suggestion and schedule the feature for ILIAS 7. Please offer also a column (can be activated) for Ref.ID.

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], 19 APR 2021 : We highly appreciate this suggestion and schedule the feature for ILIAS 8. Ref.ID-column is still welcome.

10 Implementation

{The maintainer has to give a description of the final implementation and add screenshots if possible.}
