1 Initial Problem

The Content Snippet Element has not been adapted to the new gerneral Page Layout of ILIAS 6. 

• The Content Snippet Elements allow presenting un-editable, auto-updating content from mediapools for display on pages. This allows for efficient publishing of centrally maintained content.

2 Conceptual Summary

Insert from Media Pool

1. Click Create button in page editor.
2. ILIAS presents Create menu. 
3. Select Content Snippet. 
4. ILIAS presents a Roundtrip Modal "Insert Content Snippet" presenting the tree. 
5. Select Mediapool by clicking on title. 
6. ILIAS presents Toolbar for changing Media Pool, Title line and table of Media objects or folders. 
7. If applicable click on title of folder to navigate to content snippet. 
8. ILIAS presents Content Snippet in table. 
9. Select checkbox and click Insert above or below table.  
10. ILIAS presents content snippet in main part of the screen. ILIAS presents blank Slate.

3 User Interface Modifications

• There is not edit screen within page editor.

The editing of Content Snippets is NOT done in the page editor but in the Media Pool.

We need a new type of Roundtrip Modal "with Repository Picker"

9 Discussion

Kunkel, Matthias [mkunkel], 16 APR 2020 : There are already feature requests to Extend Usage of Content Snippets and to Enable Content Snippets in General. My recommendation would be to allow the use of content snippets everywhere but to allow administrators to configure in which components they should be made available, see Configuration for Page Elements.
