Abandon obsolete settings of media objects
Page Overview
[Hide]1 Reasons to Abandon Feature
Some setting options in Mediacasts are obsolete. The options are not used by users, lead to very long forms when creating and editing media objects and are difficult for users to understand. For this reason, we want to simplify the handling of media objects by removing the following setting options.
- Additional Video File for Portable Devices
- Additional Audio File for Portable Devices
- Mime Type (only support: mp4 for Video / mp3 for Audio / and jpg/jpeg/png/gif/svg for Image)

5 Discussion

- What about making "access" a global setting - it's like abandoning a part of that feature. Do you want to add this here?
- What about deprecating "Alternative Use in Browsers"? Strangely this is only available in the EDIT-screen of videos - not in the create screen
Zenzen, Enrico [ezenzen] 2020-03-27: I agree with Colin's comments. The "Alternative Use in Browsers" should also be abandoned.
The setting "access", which enables the item to be subscribed to via the RSS-feed, should be transfered to the settings of the mediacast (see mockup). The setting in the "Settings" tab of the Mediacast is renamed from Dedault Access to Access and no longer defines the default access for a media object, but the RSS feed access for the whole mediacast.
JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], 30 MAR 2020 : We highly appreciate this suggestion and abandon the mentioned settings for ILIAS 7.
6 Implementation
Three additional form sections have been removed. Mime types and suffixes have been limited. Mime type is read only now.
Removed Testcases
The following testcases have been removed from Testrail or modified because the feature is no longer part of the ILIAS core.
