Automatically extend the Learning Progress Collection for new Media Objects in Mediacasts

1 Initial Problem

Mediacasts support learning progress for videos.

However it can be cumbersome to manage the learning progress collection if you add new videos. While the learning progress collection will automatically shrink if a lp-relevant video is deleted, it does not grow automatically, if a new video is added.

2 Conceptual Summary

• When administrators add new videos to a Mediacast (with type Video Podcast), they will be asked if the learning progress collection should be extended to include these media objects
• The question will only be shown if the learning progress is activated and determined by collection of media objects
• When uploading multiple videos at once, a default will be used to extend the collection. (clarify why the administrator can NOT be asked in this case ...?)

2.1 Proposal AK

I would not add these confirmations/questions in the workflow. Just a setting that changes the behaviour.

9 Discussion

Killing, Alexander [alex], 10 May 2020: The mockups for this are still missing. I would not add this within the creation process of single items, since it clutters the UI and is a minor configuration option imo. Instead I would add an option to the "learning progress > settings" screen how the "default behaviour" should be in this case (radio: new items determine lp / new items do not determin lp). 

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], 08 JUN 2020 : We highly appreciate this suggestion and schedule the feature for ILIAS 7. Concerning the location of the setting to consider new items for calculating the learning progress, we prefer proposal 3.2.2 and would like to have the setting in the settings of the Learning Progress and not in the Settings tab.
