Completion Status for Competence Profiles

1 Initial Problem

Since profiles can refer to many different learning contents, competence profiles can be very extensive. In addition, a lot of text is presented to the users

When users edit a competence profile, it is difficult for them to keep track of their progress. Users do not notice when they have fulfilled a profile. There is no toast or learning history-entry triggered.

Therefore, we want to introduce a completion status for competence profiles.

2 Conceptual Summary

  1. In the overview of competence profiles, the status of completion is displayed using the progress meter.
    • The "Status of Completion" results from all profile target levels that a competence profile contains. If 10 target levels are defined in a profile, users make 10% progress with each target level reached.
  2. If a user has fulfilled a competence profile,
    1. a toast is displayed to the user and
    2. an entry in the learning history is added.

9 Discussion

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], 16 MAR 2020 : We highly appreciate this suggestion and schedule the feature for ILIAS 7.

Zenzen, Enrico [ezenzen], 11 JAN 2021: The presentation of the competence profiles the KS elements "Standard Listing Panel". With this feature we want to extend the panel and enable the display of the progress meter as a property (see Screenshot). This is not only needed for the competency profiles, but also enables a representation of the learning progress for all ILIAS objects in a standard listing panel.

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], 25 JAN 2021: We highly appreciate this suggestion and re-schedule the feature for ILIAS 8. We accept the latest change to display the progress meter as property to extend the options of this view.

Famula, Thomas [tfamula], 02 FEB 2021: During the implementation of this feature, we figured out that it would be currently necessary to use the "old" On-Screen Notifications to show a hint when a Skill Profile has been fulfilled. But for ILIAS 8, it is planned to integrate the On-Screen Notifications into the Notification Center. These new UI On-Screen Notifications should be used here, but take some time until they will be available in the Kitchen Sink. Therefore we suggest to split this feature request and move the part with the notifications to a separate request. In that case, only the moved part would be dependent on the UI component and not the whole feature.

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], 08 FEB 2021:  We accept the suggestion to implement the feature in a first step without the toast presentation (chap. 2, 2.1) and to add the toast once it the extended KS implementation is available (hopefully before Coding Completed of ILIAS 8).

10 Implementation

The toast presentation was not implemented for this feature in ILIAS 8.
