Transfer Component for Course and Group Admission Links

1 Initial Problem

Administrators can already copy a direct link for users to join a course or group. However, the current interface does not provide an easy way to directly share this link or generare and present it as a QR code.

2 Conceptual Summary

ILIAS 12 already includes a Transfer component (used for permalinks in the footer), including a copy mechanism, a sharing option and a QR generation for links. Reusing this component for course and group admission links would simplify membership management — especially at the start of a semester or in hybrid/physical settings (e.g., lectures, workshops, posters).

The feature should be implemented exclusively with the new Transfer component. This component should provide the following options:

• In the following sections, the Transfer component should be displayed when admission via link is enabled:
  
  • Registration Settings in courses.
    
  • Group Registration in groups.
    

The Transfer component must provide access to the existing admission link and offer the following functions:

1. Display the link: The complete admission URL is shown as readable text.
2. Copy the link: Users can copy the admission URL to the clipboard.
3. Share the link: Users can share the admission URL via the browser’s native Sharing API, where supported. This may include email, messaging applications, or other available sharing targets.
4. Display the QR code: Users can open a QR-code view that represents the same admission URL.
5. Download the QR code (optional): If supported by the Transfer component, users can download the QR code as an image.

The Transfer component should only be displayed when the relevant Admission via/per Link option is enabled.

Zenzen, Enrico [ezenzen], 10 MAY 2019: There is a QR Code feature called "Info Page: QR Code for Permanent Links" which is to be implemented for ILIAS 6.0. Maybe the requests can be coordinated in some points. For example, the feature "Info Page: QR Code for Permanent Links" introduces a new setting to the administration Administration >> Repository >> QR Codes. This setting should also affect QR Codes to sign in a course.
