Mail Notification

1 Description

In version ILIAS 4.0 it is possible to activate "Mail Notification" for receiving a daily mail about new mails in my personal ILIAS inbox. The current implementation has two issues that need to be solved to make it a usable feature:

  1. Mail message: The content of the message is poor and does not contain sufficient information about the installation and the received mails (see screenshot).
  2. Administration: The acitivation of the feature in the administration is well hided from the administrator...

Suggestion:

  1. The mail message has to have additional information and need to follow the recommendation for automatically generated mails as defined in System Notifications by E-Mail. Therefore the structure would be as following:
    • Salutation ("Hello {First name} {Last name}")
    • Message ("You have 3 new mails in the inbox of your account {login}"; For each mail I would like to have also information about the "Sender")
    • Task ("If you want to read these mails, please go to the Mail Inbox of ILIAS: {Permanent link of user's mail inbox; see Go to Mail Inbox})
    • Explanation ("You received this mail because you have activated «Send Mail Notification» in your personal mail settings.")
    • Additional information (This mail has been sent automatically by the ILIAS installation {client name}, URL: {client URL}...)
    • Signature
  2. Activating the feature should also be possible in Administration > Mail. That is where users expect this feature.
