Improved Presentation of Working Time

1 Initial Problem

The current presentation of the estimated working time (our English expert recommends "processing time" instead) for a question does not give a clue about what these numbers are standing for, see screenshot below.

Current implementation in ILIAS 5.4 (question pool test)

Does these numbers represent hours, minutes and seconds? Or maybe minutes, seconds and centi-seconds? Or days, hours and minutes? And even if hours:minutes:seconds is the most obvious option, why do we need hours for test questions? Even in the rare cases of online exams with one essay question for two hours, representing two hours in minutes is still easy to read and understand.

2 Conceptual Summary

A standard format for describing minutes and seconds are single and double primes. Unlike the ambigious use of colons (02:12 could be 2 hours, 12minutes as well as 2 minutes, 12 seconds), the use of primes gives a clear description of the period of time. 02′12″ can only mean 2 minutes, 12 seconds.

The current used presentation 00:00:00 should be substituted within the entire system by using 00′00″ instead. Hours will always be presented as minutes.
