Migrate News on Communication » News to Timeline

This request is rooted in the [[[Project] Concept for Learning Communities]]: Building on the need of making users more visible, facilitating interaction and communication.

1 Initial Problem

In Courses and Groups News are displayed in the Timeline. They are interactive elements, making collaboaration visible and showing learning is going on. They are more of a interactive / communicative element than strictly instructional. 

News in Communication » News are displayed as old full form. This looks bit drab, it is hard to recognize these News are the aggregate of those in Courses and Groups: The comments are missing as are the likes and hearts and all the more interactive aspects of the Timeline.

This feature request does not envisgae new interface elements but replaces one heritage element with another.
This is however not the intended state of things: Devising a KS Personal Item which could serve in comments, postings, news and the like seems the way to go.

9 Discussion

Kunkel, Matthias [mkunkel], 19 FE 2019: Two questions:

• Filter be the same as now, right? Time period and context. Will you take the chance to move to the new filter UI element?
• Due to the existing filters there is no "Show more" at the bottom, right? If "Last Month" is selected, all news of the last month are presented in the timeline at once, aren't they?

Tödt, Alexandra [atoedt] 2019-02-19: If the filters are available befor this is implemented we can use the filters. If not the old control stays as it is. 

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], 11 MAR 2019 : We highly appreciate this suggestion and schedule the feature for 6.0. Using the new UI Filter would be great if possible.
