LOR harvesting adapter
1 Description
Harvesting is part of LOR repositories and means to collect and to index meta data of LMS objects. At least Switch offers harvesting on its LOR repository.
A LOR adapter for ILIAS could act like this:
- User decides an object is allowed to be harvested ("harvestable")
- Adapter prepares the meta data to be harvested (maybe by a daily cron job)
- Adapter communicates with the repository harvester and delivers the meta data

4 Discussion
Open questions so far:
- What is the best way to set an ILIAS object "harvestable"? Adding new rights to the right system, or just adding status fields and html controls to every object of interest?
- It might be helpful just to make container objects (folders, groups, categories, courses) "harvestable". But this also might shape up as too inflexible.
