Support of CC Licences in Search

1 Initial Problem

It is currently not possible to search for content published under one of the supported Creative Commons licences. Even the Advanced Search does not offer this option but only a 'Yes | No' selection for 'Copyright and other restrictions' - which is completely unusable by the way...

2 Conceptual Summary

• Offering a new 'Filter by Copyright' should be implemented for the default search. This filter should offer all existing copyright options currently supported on this installation.
• Filter should offer multiple select for licences.
• Filter by copyright can be enabled/disabled in Administration » Search. Requires that Copyright support is enabled.
• filter in default search should be adapted to the KS filter
  • There are a few points that need to be adjusted first

3.3 New User Interface Concepts

The KS filter first needs to be extended by

• a calendar for choosing the creation date (see Streamline date filter of competences to courses and groups) AND
• a function to limit the search area.
  • display KS element "expandable tree" (example 3) within the filter
  • you can click on a preferred search area or expand nodes first to limit the search area
  • root as default, EXCEPT than you search via Metabar "At Current Position" (than the current position is set)

The other needed functions are already implemented.

Tödt, Alexandra [atoedt] 2022-10-05: I am unsure whether this is actually about the default or the advanced search. Please provide mock-ups or more precise textual information. 

Kunkel, Matthias [mkunkel], 10 OCT 2022: Thanks for pointing on this inaccuracy. I changed the misleading title of the FR. For a better OER support in ILIAS, the default search of ILIAS should be extended by filtering for CC licenced material. The Advanced Search is not activated always. Most users will only use the default search in ILIAS. This is why filtering by CC licences should be offered there. I'll add a mockup before our workshop on Wednesday.

Seibt, Alina [alina.seibt] open discussion: should we keep the advanced search for what it is: filter for copyright is not usable - or should we edit this one aswell? The system could get the copyright information from the objects metadata
