New Action Unclip from Session

This feature request is a part of the Calendar Revision II.

1 Initial Problem

If materials have been assigned to a session, they must be specifically unassign in order to remove them from the session.

Many users confuse "taking away from the session" with "deleting the object". Since "Delete" can also be understood as "Delete from session" in the context of a session.

A distinction should therefore be made between "delete material" and "take material away from the session (unassign)" and offered to the user as such.

2 Conceptual Summary

Since the easiest way to remove a material from a session is to remove the material directly when viewing the session. A corresponding option should also be offered here in the Actions menu.

New Action to make difference between "Delete Material" and "Unassign Material" (Maybe "Von Sitzung lösen" / "Unassign from Session")

• Action menu should be available on Session Info Tab and besides materials, which already are assigned to a session

7 Discussion

Klees, Richard [rklees], 2018-10-08: As far as I remember, we had a similar discussion in the ILIAS Language Front and decided to use "delete" and "remove" for this very same distinction. "Delete" would mean "permanently purge from the system", like "delete a user" or "delete a course from the repository", while "remove" would be used for situation where just some relation is deleted, like "remove a user from a course". I think this "remove" applies to session and material as well: "remove material from session".

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], 08 OCT 2018 : We discussed this suggestion but need additional time for the concept. The action menu of a file that is assigned to a session does not know anything about this assignment and can therefore not present an additional action "Remove from Session". We need to clarify how we can communicate this to the embedded object and its action menu.

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], 15 OCT 2018 : We  would like to postpone this feature request and prefer a sound solution for similar objects, e.g. course and category links.
