Progress bar

1 Initial Problem

In the test the Position Indicator informs participants about the current position of this very question in the compound of all questions in this test.
This is not very helpful: It does not answer the most pressing infomation need of a participant: What is my progress?

2 Conceptual Summary

  1. We apply to abandon the currently existing progress indcator.
  2. We want to replace it by a proper Progress bar. Participants need information about their progress relative to the total workload of this test.

3 User Interface Modifications

3.1 List of Affected Views

  • Test player

3.2 User Interface Details

3.3 New User Interface Concepts

We will prepare a separate Kitchensink entry

7 Discussion

2019-05-14 Mix, Eva [emix]: I would suggest that the Progress Bar shows how many questions are allready answered and how many are yet to come like it is now. This combines the advantages of the ergonomic look of the bar and the advantages of showing the absolute numbers because it is hard to really get a feeling for percentages.

The actual  "Position Indicator" is actually pretty helpful and in its representation clean and simple.

If a change is really needed, then we do agree with the our colleagues from the Universität zu Köln and support their suggestion. Please be aware of the problematic choice of the green colour. This could be a problem for colour blind people. Also the colour green suggests a correct answer to the questions, which is not desired or intended!

8 Implementation

{The maintainer has to give a description of the final implementation and add screenshots if possible.}
