Extension of Learning History: Encouraging statement and Starting Point

1 Initial Problem

Learners view their learning history and see neither a start nor an end of their "story". It would be very welcome to provide both.

2 Conceptual Summary

The Learning History gets a defined starting point and a defined end point, like evry good story:

  1. End Point: If the "Today "-dot does not habe an entry, yet. Then a default, not-gernerated enntry is shown. The entry compises:
    • the text "Achieve your goals! Learn something today to further your learning history".
  2. Starting Point: There always be an initial entry to ensure users get presented with something to see. The initial entry is always the first login. The entry compises:
    • a star and the text "First Login"

7 Discussion

Killing, Alexander [alex], 18 Apr 2018

  • The starting point mockup above shows two events, thus we would have two items in the timeline: First login (we could decide to always show this) and Profile Badge (if this is not configured, it will not show up).
  • Motivation Statement: I do not understand the rational. If we have a "First Login" entry, the timeline will never be empty, so the motivational statements (which only should appear in an empty timeline) would never be shown?

Kunkel, Matthias [mkunkel], 18 APR 2018: As far as I understood this request, the motivation statement is always shown for "Today" - as long as there are no achievements already tagged to this day. If the user opens the Learning History on the day of the first login, the entry for 'first login' will be presented. But Oliver needs to clarify this.

Samoila, Oliver [oliver.samoila]: Article was amended accordingly. Thanks for the input.

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], 07 May 2018 : We highly appreciate this suggestion and schedule it for 5.4.
