Counter for Competence Data
Page Overview
[Hide]1 Initial Problem
- In a competence panel in "My Competences" users are not able to understand how much data underpins a competence record.
- Users might read the entries as equally grounded in data, which is typically not the case.
2 Conceptual Summary
In My competences the competence panel entries feature the amount questions that the competence record is determined uppon.
- Appaisal entries indicate a) number of questions answered, b) number of raters
- Measurement entries indicate number of questions answered
- Self-Evaluation entries indicate number of questions answered
- Traget Level are not determined record but set goals and thus do not indicate underpinning data.
3 User Interface Modifications
3.1 List of Affected Views
- PD » My Competencies
- Page-Element "My Competencies" in Portfolio.
3.2 User Interface Details
Lines with new informations have a blue arrow on left side.
3.3 New User Interface Concepts
Completion of the labeling of Scale Bar to display the raters / records.
4 Technical Information
This is technical/conceptual.
- The number of questions is a property of specific object types (tests / surveys).
- The competence management system has no information about this data.
- Furthermore this kind of data would need to persist, even if the corresponding objects have been deleted.
- We would need a concept for historisation of object type specific data.
- And, to make it more complicated, we would need some kind of versioning of this historic data, since older ILIAS versions may store other stuff than newer versions.

7 Discussion
Killing, Alexander [alex], 8 June 2017: Maybe we discuss this in the JF. Currently I cannot fully support this (see technical section). But maybe there is a "simple" solution to this.
Danke. ;)
