Actions menu for table of questions

1 Initial Problem

The 'Questions' screen in a test question pool (see below) has an unusual table design because it offers actions per questions that should usually be placed in an Actions dropdown.

This is irritating for users that are used to tables in other components and should therefore be streamlined for better UX. And it needs space that can be saved for other information.

2 Conceptual Summary

The screen shall be streamlined by removing the links for 'Edit' and 'Preview' and adding a new column 'Actions' with an Actions dropdown. Entries of the dropdown are 'Edit', 'Preview', 'Copy', 'Move' and 'Delete'. The last three actions are currently only available as table actions.

7 Discussion

Heyser, Björn [bheyser], 3rd March 2017: The maintainer supports the idea and suggests to also link the title column's entries to the preview.

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], March 13, 2017: We highly appreciate this suggestion and schedule it for 5.3. The question title should be a link and lead to the 'Preview'. 'Preview' should also be the first item in the dropdown (new rule). Besides 'Edit', 'Move', 'Delete' and 'Copy' the dropdown should also list 'Edit Page', 'Hints' and 'Feedback' (and future tabs of a question).

8 Implementation

The implementation has been done as described above. Except the linked question title all links per question has been moved to a new actions menu.

The actions menu provides the links for previewing and editing the question, that were provided in the table row before. Additionally it provides the links for editing the question page, the feedback and the hints of the question. Also the move and copy actions are now provided for each question.
