Abandon Disk Quota in Repository

1 Reasons to Abandon Feature

The 'Disk Quota' feature in the repository is currently unmaintained and bugs like Mantis #6456: Language variables for disk quota messages not available are not fixed. Because no ILIAS maintainer is interested in taking care of this feature, the Jour Fixe at November 21, 2016 has suggested to remove the disk quota in the repository with 5.3. Notice: The disk quota for Personal Workspace is kept.

2 Technical Information

{The maintainer has to provide necessary technical information, e.g. dependencies on other ILIAS components, necessary modifications in general services/architecture, potential security or performance issues.}

3 Contact

  • Author of the Request: Kunkel, Matthias [mkunkel]
  • Maintainer: No one
  • Implementation of the feature is done by: Killing, Alexander [alex] (Alexander Killing is maintainer of the Disk Quota in My Workspace and needs to make some changes in this component when the disk quota for repository is removed)

4 Funding

Removing the feature from the ILIAS code base might need funding. If you are interest in funding this request, please add your name and institution to this list.

5 Discussion

Use the following discussion section to express your objections against this request or your consent to get rid of this feature.

Killing, Alexander [alex], 2 Dec 2016: We are maintaining the disk quota for the personal workspace, so we need some code of the repository disk quota. We would also help to remove the code for the repository quota if no ILIAS user would like to take over or fund future maintenance of it.

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], Dec 05, 2016: Highly appreciated and removed with 5.3.

Kunkel, Matthias [mkunkel], Sep 04, 2017: Due to missing manpower we couldn't remove this feature with 5.3 but needed to postpone it to 5.4. New Release Status is 'Suggested for 5.4'.

JourFixe, ILIAS [jourfixe], September 11, 2017: Abandon disk quota is still highly appreciated. We will schedule this for 5.4.

6 Implementation

{The maintainer has to give a description of the final implementation and possible consequences for existing installations.}
