Usability Improvements Blog

1 Initial Problem

This article deals with small improvements that could make the blog more user-friendly. 

1. Labels & Messages: Some labels address the same thing but do not use the same term. Som,e Messages are missing. 

2. Page-Lock in private Blog:  Editing of a private Blog in "My Workspace" is is subjected to the Page Lock: Currently users get a message "This page has been locked for your editing until Today, 15:36. Please release the page after you have done all your changes by hitting [Finish Editing]"In "My Workspace" private blogs simply cannot be edited by anyone but the very user him- or herself. This should be abandonned.

3. Re-naming Blogs: Re-naming Blogs that are parts of Portfolios cretaed from Execise-Assignments is impossible. Users are stuck with the title.

   Below you see a blog that is a part of a Portfolio created from an Exercise Assignment. 
   Users cannot change the Title of the blog.

3.2 User Interface Details

3.2.1 Labels & Messages

Content-Tab of private and repository Blogs

• Clicking "Publish Posting" is not rewarded by a success message.
  • Provide a Success Message "The posting is published."
• Clicking  "Withdraw Publication" is not rewarded by a success message. The action should re-labled to "Withdraw Posting" to match the label of the other button. 
  • Provide a Success Message "The posting is withdrawn and no longer published."

3.2.2 Page-Lock in private Blog

Edit-Tab of private Blog-Post

• In the a private Blog of My Workspace the Page Lock should be just abandonned.

3.2.3 Re-naming Blog

Adding Content and Settings Tab

The Blog within the Portfolio should have its own Content and Settings tab, so users can rename it.

The mentioned usability improvements have no common ground and should be treated as three separate requests.
